3/1/2006 - Pool Tech Meeting

The day flew by!

  1. Had our Pool Tech meeting and discussed many different things relating to maintenance.  The meeting ran long from 12pm - 3:15pm.  Many things were discussed.  We assigned an order to our top ten list, to view it go to: http://chrislundie.tadalist.com/lists/public/213088
  2. I talked with Doug regarding schedules.
  3. I published my calendar.
  4. I also added dates to the FCO for SCAC.
  5. I found out they might put wireless internet onsite here in the future.
  6. The day went quick and was productive due to the large amounts of communication that is very much needed at our level.
Tomorrow is the big day! Community preservation interviews.  We will see how it turns out in the next couple of weeks.  I hope I can show the passion that is needed for the job.

2/28/2006 - Rain Effect

If you have never worked ona commercial pool you are missing the true effects of rain water.  It is amazing that you can have thousands of extra gallons of water even after a small rainfall.  It is not hard to get rid of the water, this is done by backwashing the water to the sewer.  The real issue is how it effects your water chemistry.  It sometimes takes a few days to recover from water chemistry issues

I had a good day, stuck to my check off sheets

2-27-2006 - Rain

IT WAS A GOOD DAY!

  1. I continued my cleaning of the pump room and organization of our pool tech areas.
  2. I worked on the NOP manual.
  3. I also flushed the chlorine lines and tightened the ball valves.
  4. The rest of the day was spent on my check off sheets and on organizing our pool tech folder.
It started raining this afternoon heavily.

  2. I then went quick back to the Activities Center for a retirement party for Pat.
  3. Spent the rest of the day going through paperwork and getting misc. tasks like strainer baskets taken care of.
  4. Said my goodbyes to Pat.  I have found over the last two years that Pat has truly cared about me and has been highly supportive of our position as pool techs and our future.  I will miss Pat and look forward with mixed anticipation to her replacement.

We had to cancel the pool tech meetingt today.  That was not good since I had a pile of discussion points for the meeting.

We also had Pat & Lance's Birthday lunch which took up a couple hours.  We went to Rattler's and it was great!

I am still waiting to find out about the Graffiti job.  I would love a chance to use my skills and to prove I am more than a pool technician.

Expansion Joint Pictures

Here are a few of the Pictures from the Expansion Joint Repair at North Oaks Pool.

Kathryn Hugger, Stu Williams, Wally, and me.

2/1/2006 - Scholarship Application

Today was crazy here is what happened:
  1. I submitted a scholarship application for SCPPOA. I am asking for a scholarship to send me to Austin Texas for a CPO instructor course. I think this would greatly enhance my knowledge and focus my energy more on the process of making water quality the forefront issue at our facilities.
  2. I stopped by the Red Cross to pick up supplies after I went to the post office to mail my application.
  3. I stopped by Glen and saw Aaron, and picked up the cold packs  Mike wanted.
  4. I came up to North Oaks and have been vacuuming and cleaning to get the pool ready for turnover.  There are many supplies that need to be take to the Aquatic Center for storage.
  5. I completely rebuilt a  pole    that was in bad shape at nop and took apart a few poles that needed to be trashed ASAP.
  6. I am thinking ahead to tomorrow when I need to have some major work done at the Aquatic Center and I need to submit my application for the Graffiti removal coordinator job.

That was today, nothing crazy only the normal stuff Pool Tech's do.

FW: 1/31/2006

Today was spent finally getting NOP filled and really getting into re-writing and revising the facility operations manual.  I am starting with North Oaks Pool and moving down the list.  I will write the Aquatic Center last.  There will be a segment of the book that is generic and areas that are focused on that facility.  Mostly pump room and facility diagrams.  I think that once this one is done the rest will be 1/8 the work.  I am behind and need to have two done by the end of February.  This project is definitely opening my eyes and making me see the detailed side of myself that I rarely allow out.

On another note I think that once the manual is complete we will have a good basis on how to revise the pool school manual and a common format for training materials in the future.

1/30/2006

Today was spent trying to get North Oaks Pool Up and Running.  The pool is very dirty and needs cleaning.  I cracked open the maintenance manual and I found a lot of new information that is currently not in practice.  I expect to use this information in our upcoming spring training.  I have found that the manual is in good shape and just needs a few things added and subtracted to bring it up to date.

1/29/2006

Today went well.  I was pretty nervous in regards to finishing the LGI class.  I hope to pursue my WSI cert. this spring.

All participants passed with no problem.  I am looking forward to teaching a class all on my own.

1/28/2006 - Respirator Fit Test Cards

Today I was working on getting Respirator fit test cards for each person's wallet.  I came up with an ok design, one that is simple yet maintained all the facts needed for testing.

Fit testing and respirator usage training and testing with be offered yearly at recertification. Managers will be done early closer to February.

This was a short day to me being out of hours this week.

1/27/2006

Today I went and checked NOP pool for any issues with the paint. The paint looked ok but not perfect. It was very hard shelled and seemed to be cure enough to fill this weekend.
The main drain would not open. and I removed the bottle pump that was draining the pool. 1 ft is left.
I will be in again on Sunday and hope that I can give details on how the fill is going.

Tomorrow there is lots to do!

1/18/2005 (Expansion Joint Day 2)

This dreaded process of pouring an expansion joint is done and the project upon initial inspection looked very clean. I want to thank the team Stu Williams, Kathryn Hugger and Aaron Wall for the incredible job they did! This process started at 2:30pm and ended at 8pm. We actually started pouring the joint at 4pm. That is the fastest one that I have ever witnessed. I have pictures and will post them very soon.

Tomorrow a trip to Ventura is planned and any touch up to the joint should be completed. Also an injector at the Aquatic Center is in need of repair. I will trace down the issue tomorrow morning.

Catch you later!

RE: Moment of silence for 055 1/11/2006

Chris, I will always remember that lonely night last year when we made our post swim meet trash run and 055 let the trash spill out all over Soledad and you got yelled at by the motorist.  It is memories like that that I will miss the most.

Long live the new king, truck 202.

Today I spent most of the afternoon just getting paperwork in order for when I leave this weekend.  I went with Taryn and picked up truck 202 to replace 055.  I already miss 055 and the times spent cruising around the City in that fine beast of a machine.

I made a backup copy for the office of the LGT cds.  I picked up my boot re-imbursement check.  I hung the new strantrol tracking forms in the pump room and placed 4 pens there with velcro to last the ages.

I am off until Tuesday so until then Happy Pathogens!
